Williams, 51, who was convicted by an all-white jury and sentenced to die for the murder of four people in two robberies in 1979, says he is innocent. For two decades in prison, Williams has dedicated himself to peace. He negotiated a truce between the Crips and Bloods gangs. He has written nine books, including children's books that warn about the dangers of gang involvement.
